Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been practiced for over 2500 years, and you know what they say…Practice makes perfect. While acupuncture has changed greatly since its beginnings, one thing has remained constant: treat the body as a whole, recognizing the connectivity of all systems.
An acupuncture treatment consists of intake questions and physical assessment to determine the body’s current condition, followed by the application of sterile, single-use filiform needles to the chosen acupuncture points on the body. The needles are about the width of a human hair and cause minimal pain on insertion. On many instances, a patient may not feel the insertion of the needles. A treatment may also include other modalities such as cupping, e-stim, moxibustion, or auricular acupuncture. Note that in the state of Texas, acupuncturists are not considered primary care physicians. If you are seeking treatment for any condition other than weight loss, chronic pain, smoking cessation, or addiction, you will be required to sign document stating that you have been evaluated by a physician or dentist within the last 12 months, or have been referred by a chiropractor within the last 30 days for the condition being treated.
